Our clocks went back an hour last night, we're now at GMT 00, and to make us feel better the sun is shining and it's a beautiful day here, if a little cold.

You will be pleased to know I'm actually going to have a hand in cooking dinner today, oh yes... Yesterday we decided we rather fancied some leek and potato soup, so once DH has peeled the potatoes (well, you didn't expect I'd do it ALL by myself did you?) I'll work a little magic putting it together. Does anyone else have a combination microwave oven? I love mine! In an hour you can cook braising steak and onions and it tastes like it has been slow cooking for hours. I love our slow cooker too, but by the time I've smelt it cooking for five hours I'm a bit fed up!

As for the rest of my day? I think I might do a little reading :D

Good morning Jane! Oh! your soup sounds wonderful! yummo! as Racheal Ray says!

I'm up with the early birds this morning - but I waited up for DH last night (& DD - although at 1 am I realized that Duh! she must be staying at a friend's house). DH came home at 1:30 am - he worked with a tv news crew & the airplane looking for poachers. I used to hate when he was gone at night because I worried about his safety - but after 20 yrs...it's a part of life. Then the nursing home called for my dd to work this morning at 5:30 am - so here I am at GST 00 organizing with acdSee (just kidding! it's 7 am old time & 6:14 am DST). Gonna be a nap today I believe.

Well - I met the digiscrapper yesterday for lunch at 12:30 pm & ... come 3:15 finally left the restaurant!! We both brought our cameras - what does that say? We're the same age & it was SO cool to have the conversation meld the online world with real life! And she's a PSP expert & writes tut's over at SBB - soooo we plan to get together again - but next time with computer included.

This afternoon I'm going to plant my lily bulbs - I have about 50 x that many holes needed... but it will be good to work outside. I was daft & ordered daffodils late - so they haven't come yet. I hope they get here before permafrost sets in!! And I was thinking yesterday - It's almost penguin time! I collect penguins & bought a new one a couple weeks ago. Here in wintry MN I put them out in November & they make me smile until March. Back to acdSee - I'm going to finish another DVD!

Today would be a good day for potato soup. I do a baked potato soup that is a copy of Bennegins (chain restaurant type) which is really yummy and hearty, but of course my kids won't eat it. *eye roll*

Jane, that micro sounds awesome. I love my slow cooker too, but for me, it always seems odd to have my house smelling like dinner at 9 am. By dinner time I can't wait to eat. yet again, most of what I cook, my kids won't eat.

Will someone with older kids pleeeeease tell me they outgrow this?

Connie- glad you had a fun safe time meeting your new digi-friend.
It is cold and windy here in NJ and the ground is so soggy from all the rain we had over the last few days... I have bulbs I ordered from my kids' school fundraiser. They are coming in tomorrow night, so I have got to get cracking to get them in. I love spring planting, not so crazy about fall.

Last night was my family reunion. I think I may have mentioned I didn't really want to go, but ended up caving. My dad (it was his side of the family) really wanted me and his grandkids there. I am so glad I went. I really ended having a fun time, esp considering most of these people I had no clue who they were, or if I did know them, the last time I saw them, I was probably 14 or 15. I got lots of pictures so when I get them off my camera I will be a busy girl getting them scrapped.

And onthe way down, we hit a rain storm. The sky was cool- it was blue and then a line with brown clouds. the wind was whipping the rain as we drove into it. Then as we drove out of it, there was an enormous rainbow. I had my digital with me, so I thought, Why not? I snapped a bunch of pictures of the rainbow (and windsheild wipers LOL) and some of them actually came out. This is why I love digi so much. I never would have thought to take pics of a rainbow, in a car, driving and just hope for the best with my regular camera.

Anyway, I asure am rambling for little sleep last night. Today my kids and I are going to visit my best friend who just got a new puppy!
So more pictures! yay!

Have an awesome Sunday!

Chris -
The good news is - yes, your kids will grow out of the food thing - but they'll grow into new things with hair, clothes. It took awhile for my dd's palate to get used to onions & spicier things. Just chop them finer & start adding them in small amts. (Although I remember the days when I made two things - one for child because she didn't like what we were having - now she's old enough to make her own alternate).

SO glad you had fun at your family reunie!! I enjoyed my time at my Aunt's 60th b'day party too (I did get there lol My sister sent a sassy email reminding me to not forget about it in mtg this digiscrapper - ha ha! She knows me too well!!)

OH new puppy - great photo ops!! Can't wait to see.
Have fun!!

ugh, my son slept with me - crosswise in the bed last night, I only got kicked about 9 times. A little bleary eyed today.

I'm glad you enjoyed the reunion too, and that storm sounds wonderful! I love storms, well as long as I'm inside anyway.

How is your bulb planting going Connie? I really must get myself a time chart so I know where you all are. Here, it's just coming up too 5.15pm and dinner is cooking :) In the end I didn't have a hand in it because I'm having a bit of trouble with dizzyness and DH didn't want me with a knife in my hand wobbling all over the place! So I've been under orders to sit still, and I finished a book this afternoon :)

It's no fun being kicked in bed Vicki. My DH sometimes whacks me one, but his favourite trick is stealing my pillow, or giggling uncontrollably in his sleep. I hate to think I am missing a good joke

they grow out of that too Vicki

It makes me sad when my daughter doesn't want a hug anymore. sigh But I keep working on it! :) She'll come around eventually!

Jane - that will be after lunch. I just put lunch in the oven (tatortot hotdish) & I have pork spareribs simmering on the stove for supper (bbq spareribs that I promised to my dd's boyfriend last weekend). Sunday at my house has become a traditional day for me to cook 2 big meals & we all eat together - it's nice. (Her boyfriend likes my cooking too - which helps!).

as to time zones - I'm 6 hours behind you I think - or 7. Next time we're on Hello we can figure it out - ok?
