Well good moo-rning ladies :D I trust we all had a good night's rest?

I've been racing around this morning cleaning up before the cleaner comes in   Daft, isn't it? Pay a cleaner and then try to do it all before she arrives! I really must stop being such a twit, not least because the reason we pay someone is so I'm not stressing my hands doing stuff I shouldn't be doing!

I have to call the wheelchair repair people today: my powered chair needs new batteries I think. I was dawdling up hills at a snail's pace yesterday, and this is not good when you happen to be crossing a road on a hill and you can see the cars racing towards you! With any luck, I might get them before Christmas, ha! Apart from that, my parents both have powered scooters that go faster than my chair and this is just not acceptable to me at all!

Moo-rning all!

Jane, since I clean houses, it is actually really nice when you clean before we get there. :p But I have been on both sides of that coin and I used to think the same thing. Why am I paying $$ to have my house cleaned when I need to clean before they get here? And in my case, I used Merry Maids and I ended up cleaning *after* too.

I am starting a new house today. My SIL hooked me up with this lady. Sometimes it makes me feel weird. Like for this lady-- Her dh is the brother's of one of my old best college friends dh. It kind of makes me feel like all of that education and look at me know, scrubbing toilets.... LOL But it gives me a chance to listen to some podcasts. I am rabidly political, but I will keep my POV to myself unless asked. *G*

Hope everyone has an awesome day!!

hahahha, I'd have to clean for days for someone to come in to clean my house here lately. I used to keep a clean house before I started designing... now I just sit on my computer all day... hmmmm. Nah, designing is more fun than cleaning.

New batteries are a MUST! It simply won't do to have your parents going faster than you!
Connie

Clean house - bah humbug! (it bothers my dh sooner than it does me - and he's still trying to train me -- he's made progress in the 20 yrs - but I'm still not converted to doing it regularly... I'm good at organizing, but beyond that -- it's a pain in the arm)

Jane - you make me giggle (& so early in the morning!) - you DEFINITELY need new batteries.....

Anna - how's the toe today?

I'm off to work - have a great day everyone.... I"ll pop in later.
Anna

Moooorning ALL

Today is going to be fabulous, not sure why but I am Hell bent on making it a fab day!

Jane new batteries definately seem like a MUST. :D

I'm a bit compulsive about the house and stuff, but mine could certainly use a good DEEP cleaning......and that is NOT on my list of things to do anytime soon!

The toe is feeling better today, actually still hurts but I guess I'm getting used to it LOL. I have to say it was VERY VERY gross changing the bandage last night.......uuuuckkkkkk

Vicki it's a rainy dreary day here isn't it, thinking I might have to have a hot chocolate to go along with my mid morning Big Gulp

I simply MUST get some work done now, will check back in later.

Have a FAB day!

You all are cracking me up!

Hey Anna what is this mid morning "Big Gulp"! :D
ronee
10-25-2006, 09:31 AM
I'm adding my vote for new batteries for Jane!

As for me, I couldn't sleep last night, feeling like grump today, lol. Might just sit on the couch and scrap all day and work on downloading ACDSee!

Anna - I'm a bit compulsive about the house too, and mine totally needs a deep clean. I was thinking of asking for that for one of the upcoming holidays/anniversaries or something. Send me out for a massage and come home to a sparkling house!!! I need Chris to come over!!

Oh and Chris, I think everyone has that feeling about old school mates no matter what it is they are doing. I know I get it. I would not have guessed you to be political! I am learning something new everyday! :)
Genevieve
10-25-2006, 10:38 AM
What is this "cleaning" you all speak of? LOL When my DH and I first met, he was absolutely OCD--HAD to do ALL the dishes and put EVERYTHING away before bed or he couldn't sleep. Me, on the other hand, my room was covered in piles of clothes and I had to do the smell test to determine if it was clean or not, and dishes could sit in my sink for MONTHS before I decided they needed to be cleaned. We kind of met in the middle when we got married, and now live in some semblance of clean. My side of the bed still always has a pile of clothes next to it, though.

Let's see...my day so far. Boring. Again. But I have a cute daughter, so that usually makes up for the boring. Actually, I did a layout about that very thing last night: Days Go By (http://www.oscraps.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1186&cat=500&ppuser=1256).

Hee hee...and politics make me quite rabid, too, so I try to just keep my mouth shut most of the time. ;) What's the saying? Something about politics and religion not being polite conversation?

and this weather has me positively grumpy and/or indifferent - how does that work? Well, I'm grumpy but not motivated enough to do anything about it so I have just been sitting on the couch watching meaningless tv and feeling grumpy that I have SO MUCH that I SHOULD be doing...

I think I need to hire a personal assistant. I wonder if I could get one who works for digiproducts instead of money lol!

Ah well, I do need to get my behind off this couch and get out of the house.

We cannot talk about cleaning while on the Oscraps forum! It would make me feel even more guilty for not doing what I'm supposed to be doing (which would be those dishes which Genevieve was talking about!!)

Gen, you and I are kindred spirits!! Although you lucked out with an OCD DH. My DH is exactly like me and we just wallow until we can't take it any more!! THen the kids have to clean up!! heh heh - why do you think I have four kids? Just kidding...I'm still the mom!! Dishes are still my responsibility and that's why they are still soaking in the sink waiting for me to put them in the dishwasher! ugh! (BTW, I love my husband terribly...especially because he does the laundry!! YEA!!)

Anyway...enough about dishes...I was just talking to a group of moms at football practice last night about why I don't hire a maid and it's for that exact reason. I might as well clean it myself and not stress out about someone coming in to clean~

WEll, I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday. Those dishes, and my children's invention presentations are awaiting this AWOL mom!!

lol Edhish --- My daughter had wanted a Jack Russell Terrier too - but we never gave in. She watched a tv show for kids called Wishbone & the main character was Wishbone the dog reenacting classic books like the Hunchback from Notre Dame. We have 2 labs though - and they have springs on their feet - I swear!

Genevieve - I have a pile of clothes beside my bed... and another on my bed (keeps my feet warm)... and did you know that if you use clean clothes from the clean mountain - then you don't have to fold them.. because they work they same? lol

Vicki - awww, don't be grumpy - I'll add you to my new Hello - not sure about organizing your life (although I do work for digiproducts)... but I can at least make you smile!

Ronee - how's it going with ACDSee?

Well, I haven't gotten to that part yet. I'm definitely doing it though, hopefully tonight. I'm so ready for my stuff to be organized.

I did have one question. If I do all of the tagging etc. on my main computer, can I copy that info to my laptop too, without having to redo it all? Does that make sense?

I've been neglecting everyone.
I hope you get your batteries quicker than xmas.
Congrats on teh CT for Vera.

Ever since I got back from the Smokie mountains I've been battling the flu, now it's a full fledge Bronchitis.

I missed 2 magazine deadlines they wanted me to redo some of them and I didn't get the email until tonight even tough it's been sitting in my mailbox since Friday, I emailed them it's too late now.

I hate been sick. I took 4 days off from work. I no longer have any vacation left. I have a trip plan and paid for for next month.

Sorry guy's I'm just feeling miserable now..

The store is finally open after months of work.

www.dragonflaire.com

I was thinking we could do just like on dst the feature scrapper of the week as well and offer a free kit.
Hopefully I will get better and drive this really hard.
Let me know what you guy's think.

Yes you can Ronee - there are two things.... one is backup - and that info can be restored.

But there is also an export - which exports your tag data - then you can import it onto another computer - where it will match your files (as long as you haven't rearranged the folder trees).

I can give you directions (copied & pasted from the help part)

And it will definitely help you scrap - when you don't have to ponder where you left whatever wherever.

Ronee-- I love and come to clean your house. But then I'd need a massage too. Then I would talk to you into waiting for me so we could go togewther. So while we were hanging around waiting for me to finish cleaning, we'd end up gabbing. Then we'd look at the clock, look at the uncleaned house and say "We are going to need a new housecleaner!"

Vicki-- I also work for my MIL as her personal assistant for her quilt design business. But if I came to work for you-- I bet the same thing would happen with Ronee.

Maggie-- feel better hon. Your designs are great, and I love the name. We collect dragon stuff in our house so I;m drawn anything that has to do with them

Edhish-- Pictures!! we need pictures!

Conne we have a black lab puppy too- she is 10 months old, but *cracks up* I don't think she'll ever outgrow puppy-hood. I also have a mutt that must have some hound in her. It it neat to see how different they are on walks. The mutt has her nose to the ground, not even looking where she is going. The lab has her eyes up and prances like she is queen.

cello-- what did your kids "invent'?
My son (the disorganized one) is going to invent soemthing someday. He was (at 9 yo) trying to figure out a way to extract DNA from a bug to clone it LOL
He also drew up plans to make a robot that could go to school for him. He has been describes by many of his teachers (ok-- all of his teachers) as a "Mad scientist" type. and sadly it is true.... :?

i am back back back page 1

Anna

Would anyone here be interested in a daily or weekly Praise Thread? I love playing the Praise Game at DST and OScraps gallery is Rocking so much these days I thought it might be fun.

I would be happy to start one every morning if you guys are interested and of course if VICKI gives her stamp of approval :D

Just let me know by posting here, and if enough are interested we could give it a try.
VickiStegall
10-24-2006, 11:32 PM
Girl, you don't need my stamp of approval for this! You HAVE it but you don't NEED it!

I would love to see this started - so, please do :)

For the record, this is an open forum EXCEPT for hurtful things like racism, slander/bashing, piracy, etc.... I won't tolerate hate and sheer meaness (or porn links - we battled that for a few days ugh!) and for that matter... if someone starts spamming store ads I'll get annoyed, but pointing out goodies and praising other designers or sites is ok with me - as long as every once in awhile you say you like my designs too (j/k!!!)

I am not over at DST, could you tell me what a Praise thread is?
Connie
10-25-2006, 07:52 AM
A praise thread is where you post a link to your layout.... then you leave praise on all the other layouts on that page (or the thread if you're really energetic).

So the next person posts their lo, and praises the ones above... it's fun & gives some of us hope of getting comments!

Actually, I've found that it's a great way to see new lo's & it forces me to take time & pause & look at other people's work. Sometimes I see things I'd like to try & gives me many ideas!

Is the background paper too busy on this?

The words are so large on the alpha - I thought it looked ok - that was my rationale... it's not a traditional heritage page.

Just curious as to what you think?

Also - want to see what happened when I scrapped in the dark last night? lol

HA HA - well now someone will say that my scrapping in the dark looks better than when I can see what I'm doing. (had to get that in first - Karin would've nabbed that up in a shot - esp. after my badgering her lol).

Vicki - it probably will only work if you have a blue light just above the delete key (why I have one there? I don't know - but without it - the template would've been rough in PSP). Now that's intelligible information...I think I'm going to bed. *babbling alert*

Type in something like this (without the spaces)

For text links
[ url = http :// www dot oscraps dot com / gallery...] My Gallery [ / url ]

For blinkies:
[ url = http ://www dot oscraps dot com/ ] [ img ]http://i74.photobucket dot com/yourpic.gif [ /img ] [ / url ]

I need some moo-tivation today :D It doesn't sound like Connie needs any though, teasing us with her "new job", little rascal that she is

Hello Anna, nice to meet you although your story sounds awful, but I mean that in the nicest possible way  I've never done what you have with my big toe, but just knocking it against something makes me squeal, so I'd have been a total wreck - and all those cute pink nails too

Nancy, big moooooooooooooo to you :D

I missed getting my hair cut last week, I didn't check the diary and completely forgot, so I'm off to be shorn this morning. DH has just been to the dentist: he needs three crowns, a few fillings and a wisdom tooth extraction. Unlike me who's on the good old NHS, he has had to go private and it will cost around 500, or $900 to the currency challenged among us  It will probably cost a lot more in pain, suffering and general all around grouchiness from DH too, he really hates having anything done and this has to be the first time for over ten years.

Right, I'm off for a nice cup of tea before I trundle into town. Have a great day everyone and I'll see you later :)

Happy Moos-daymorning (afternoon to you all)
I didn't post in yesterdays Moos. I wasn't sure what I should say. I didn't want to look silly. ( Now how funny does that sound?)

I got my hair cut and colored for the first time since april yesterday. I am **blond** again (brain cells beware hahahaha!)
Have a nice time getting yours done.

Edhish, I don't think we "officially" met-- so nice to meet ya. Rainy days make me feel lazy too.

Not much excitement in New Jersey for me. Food shopping, working from home... house cleaning. But I'll put my headphones on and bop till I drop!

I couldn't help but think of our Mooshu when I saw these! HAHAHA, I'm already calling you "our" Mooshu!

Today, I'm gonna get the munchkin off to school and wander around aimlessly wondering what to do because I stayed up way too late last night -thank goodness my laptop finally went into hibernation and forced me to turn it off....

Vegas was a TON of fun!!! I've got some silly pictures that I'll get around to scanning and posting this afternoon.

Anna - OH NO on your TOE! You need me to bring you your midmorning big gulp? I'll do it!

Alright, I'm gonna go start wandering around now...

good mooo-rning all!

I need to get moooo-ving & soon. Staff meeting & training this morning til noon - so no playing or malingering.

Last night I was up til 1 am (that is so unlike me - ugh) -- but I scrapped in the dark - and made the coolest heritage page. Will share later tonite. I may be dragging by then. (I saw Vicki browsing the forum - probably reading the 'moos').

And faerywings (are you Chris?) - nothing is too silly to put here. Just talk about whatever strikes you. As you can see - there is no main topic. It's a friendly interaction ...

As to hair - I went in for a perm & was talking about how blah my hair was - so my hairdresser said - you have enough curl & disappeared, coming back with a bowl. And right then & there she highlighted it. What an awesome way to go into winter. It's getting dark here at 7 pm now & it's a bit dreary... when we do daylight savings time - we'll be getting dark at 6 pm... ugh!! How my hair & winter are related - I'm not sure - but it does make me feel better!

Ok - I'll be back laters .....gotta hit the road.

just had to add here...$900 for three crowns, some fillings and a wisdom tooth extraction? Really???? I've paid more than $900 just for two crowns!! around $400 for one wisdom tooth extraction...and my dd just got 6 fillings for over $800!! (our dentist loves us!!!)

(Maybe I shouldn't admit on the daily moos about being enamel challenged..heh heh)

thanks for the daily pick-me-up!!

BTW, just downloaded Sarah McLachlan's latest Christmas album called Wintersong...it's very cool!!!

have a greatday!!

Hi, everyone! :) I love this idea! Hope you don't mind if I join in! :)

I am in desperate need of a haircut, too, but I'm just too darned lazy to go out and get one! lol Plus, I don't think I have any time this week. I like to do it in the evenings when DH is home and can watch our DD, but we've got stuff going on every night this week, so once again, the haircut will have to wait. And I just keep getting shaggier and shaggier... ;)

At least I don't need any dental work (that I know of...LOL)--that totally stinks!

Funny story on my blog (yesterday's post), if you want a good laugh. Scariest thing that's happened to me in a while! ;)

Um...not much else. My days are mostly boring. Unless I drink enough tea, and then they're more interesting, but I don't like to subject my DD to too much caffeine(I'm still nursing her), so I try to limit my tea intake... hee hee.

Hello
What is mooshoo?
Maggie

Maggie ~

Mooshu is a 'who' :) She is the lovely lady who started this thread and is bringing us daily 'moos' (news). She posted the origin of her name in the "Where in the world are you" forum. I'll copy and paste it here...

****
I took it from a game I was playing at the time, Mooshu Tiles, a form of Mah Jong. I'd originally used my wheelchair name as an internet identity because I wasn't nearly so creative 8 years ago Laughing

Over time I evolved into The Happy Moo, because I'm usually happy Very Happy
****

and Genevieve! Didn't you have a totally exciting morning helping me figure out how to track all the coupon codes coming through the store? I found it pretty darned exciting - well, that we got it figured out anyway LOL!!!

I just recently got my hair done - it's been needing it desperately and we were going to Vegas so I had to take the time to do it. It just wouldn't do to have 6 inch roots in the pics now would it? I did however take my laptop and finish up my KISS templates in the chair and teach my hairdresser how to use templates LOL.
Genevieve
10-24-2006, 10:48 AM
Um...OH, YEAH! Man, Vicki, that coupon sorting was just so fun, that I didn't want to make other people feel bad that they couldn't have that much fun. ;)

Yeah, we wouldn't want them to be envious of that now would we... I bet it was almost as much fun as Anna's toenail... Ok, Anna's toenail was worse for sure.

I couldn't help but think of our Mooshu when I saw these! HAHAHA, I'm already calling you "our" Mooshu!

I'm more than happy to be "our Mooshu" over here, it's a nice comfy place to be :D

I've seen those moo-gnets and was miffed I'd not thought of them first, I could have made a fortune!

Wow, I didn't realise you were all so desperate to have your hair done  I go every four or five weeks because mine grows so fast and I have a short, spiky messy style I can do with one hand. Connie, I always have a change of colour around this time of year, and then again for Christmas, and then for spring/summer. Now you'll all think I'm a vain Moo  But my hair and teeth are the best bits of me, the rest is pretty much falling to pieces....

Welcome Cellomom and Sweet Genevieve, and Faerywings and oh, everyone :D This really is a chat about anything thread, and anything goes. Hey Genevieve, my DH is usually the one that makes me scream... oh, perhaps now is not the time.... Ha ha!! Seriously, he plays his computer games and forgets the sound is up loud and suddenly someone shouts, "Trebuchet ready sire!" and I jump a foot in the air!

However, I don't like to think I missed out on fun you know... I'm out having my hair done and Genevieve and Vicki are tracking coupons, and then while I'm fixing my Dad's computer this afternoon, you're all busy here nattering...

I'll get my own back  I'm home all day tomorrow and I'll talk to myself if I have to

Now it's spaghetti bolognese time so I'll see you all tomorrow :)

In Poland rather than say goodnight, our friend told us they say, "Colourful dreams!"... So colourful dreams everyone :D

Hi all!

I've been scrapping all day! LOL, had a couple of assignments to finish, and some previews to make for my new kit. And that's about it. I also cleaned a bit. I'm so very exciting, lol.

I'm about to go post this week's ad challenge so if anyone is bored or looking for inspiration, come check it out! :)

All Connie's badgering paid off, and I finally had a quick second to register and drop by! And now, of course, its time to go home :o)

I'll be checking in again on Thursday, since I have to drive to the big cluster *u** that is Mexico City to go to our plant for training. I'm sure it will be fun fun fun!

Can't wait to get to know you a bit ladies! You seem like a friendly group!

Hey Karin......welcome to Oscraps!

Just an update on the dreaded toe......it is feeling better today BUT I haven't had enough nerve to change the bandage yet  I guess DH is going to help when he gets home, ugggggg.

I'm tired so hopefully I'll have chirpier stuff tomorrow.

Vicki, thanks for the morning Big Gulp offer :D

Hola Karin!! Moi?! badgering... oh my -- Karin, Karin, Karin - we missed your sunny spirit, deario. Are you getting the training or training others?

Glad to hear you got some scrapping done Ronee! (as Edhish said - I stayed up til 1 am - scrapping in the dark by the light of my screen ... hmm haven't looked at that lo yet today! lolol -- oh! and cleaning - sounds like a necessary evil.

Edhish is amazing, isn't she? She's going to start filling your gallery here. We reviewed the rules (is this admitting I had never read them? probably). And doesn't that O blinkie look great on her? *woot*woot*

Jane - I have chemically induced curls and similarly created highlights - sigh, now you know my secrets! lol

Genevieve - I bought your stamps!! they're too cool! The previously mentioned Karin would like them - she does great quirky things. I probably would be good at sorting coupons... but no one asked ..

Maggie - the chat was fun last night. I left a note on your post at DST - but won't repeat here. (Vicki - you should dig it out over there) thanks again for the gifts! Where do you live Maggie?

cellomom - ouch on your dentish bills! I have a tooth story too -- my dd's boyfriend broke his tooth this summer so we bought him a crown ($1200). People ask - doesn't he have parents? but... I'm trying to figure out how to claim him on our income tax!

lol Faerywings @ brain cells beware -- and 'blond'. It's more fun though, isn't it?

and yep, I can vouch that Vicki was up late too - I saw her.... not admitting to anything else though.

Off to post my LO that I did in the dark... oh that sounds bad - lol

And I must say - this is turning into a hopping place!! woo HOOO!!

Your wish is my command Vicki, here's our first Daily Moos here at OScraps :D Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, it's really nice to be here.

I'm here later than usual this morning, 9.30am, as DH has the day off from work. This afternoon is his grandfather's funeral  Unfortunately it clashes with a hospital appointment for me, so we made the decision I go to hospital and join DH later. I did try to move the appointment but it would be another month before I could be seen, and although we think there's nothing seriously wrong with me (Connie, I heard that giggle!!!) DH would be happier I went and got checked. I'll update you later with the health status of this Happy Moo

Maggie, my DH liked Angels & Demons best too, and according to the DVD we watched it's going into production as a movie soon :) We really enjoyed the film, thought it was very well done, and that Silas was definitely a scary bloke, not to be messed with! It certainly gets a 9/10 from me and I'd watch it again :)

Vicki, I'm a bit of a fantasy lover too! Have you ever read any by Tad Williams? The Dragonbone Chair, The Stone of Farewell and To Green Angel Tower are epic fantasies that I loved. I might see if I can find some Kushiel, that's a new name to me.

I'll see you all later - have a good Monday :D
Connie
10-23-2006, 07:31 AM
good moo-rning!

Jane - you'll come out of your appt with flying colors as usual, girl! And I giggled at another part - at the 'your wish is my command' part. I'm so glad you joined us here!

As expressed earlier - I'm sorry about your DH's grandpa - your DH must be young! I lost my grandparents awhile ago.

And the movie & Silas - did you close your eyes when you knew bad parts were coming?!! I did.. & I was trying to forewarn DH. I screamed in regard to the nun (I have 2 very sweet nuns that work for me - so I'm a bit protective in that regard).

Yesterday I sewed the cape for dd's boyfriend. He was pleased with how it turned out & I have photos! DD was at work, so we showed him her baby photo albums...

Today it's back to work, but we don't open until 10, so I malinger. We realized this morning that dd's prescriptions have run out (she's diabetic) - so I have to get on that with the pharmacy. My child is out of syringes. She does well with it though. I was thinking yesterday that it's been a decade.... Today at work - I need to get a newsletter to the print shop & get ready for a staff meeting/training for tomorrow morning. My car will get it's oil changed & it's 99cent movie rental day. Have a great day ladies! I may pop thru later.

Oh! remember how we put my parents on the internet? I rec'd two of the cutest emails from them yesterday. I sent one back filled with smileys, then called - and Mom said they had this big discussion about how to turn it off. I think they will be able to do it!! wooo hooo I'm so proud of them!

Of course Edhish! You can moo happily now! We have found Jane. (ahem girls - people around here are going to think we're a bit barmy  Jane - do you really use that word?) So now that we're together again...

A puppy!! Your kids are going to love that Edhish!! And what awesome photo ops. What kind? A big one or a little one?

So you're going to tell work - I'm not working for two months... or do you mean for your CT work? (Girls - Edhish is one very talented scrapper!)

My dh made my jaw drop this morning when he made the little comment - 'well, they'll probably be getting married in 2 or 3 yrs (referring to our daughter & her boyfriend)'. OMG - I need to get thru graduation first! then we need to do college.....

Ok back to work..... I've just been chatting with someone - I have a new 'job' on the horizon related to the digiscrapping world & it's TOO exciting!! I'm about ready to burst - I will tell you soon, though.

10-23-2006, 01:01 PM
Barmy is a great English word often used over here :D And yes my DH is young, he's 36, but his grandfather lived to a ripe age of 81 and he still has grandmothers on both sides of the family.

Edhish, I saw the sweetest little puppy just a few minutes ago when I was getting out of the car: I could have walked off with it. Have fun with your new addition :)

Connie, the colours weren't flying today, they were a little drab and dreary  It wasn't the news I expected and I'm a little nonplussed by it all at the moment. Going to a funeral tea afterwards seemed even more odd, and I think I need a night to get myself back together.

I'm going to watch a bit of TV and unwind now. Enjoy the rest of your day and I'll see you tomorrow :D

looking for a good organizational software? page 1

Hi all,
If you're searching for good software for organizing your stash - or have already started using acdSee - and have questions..... post it here.

As a librarian, I love to get things in order - and I've been enjoying making this program sing & dance. I'll help if you have questions.
ronee
10-22-2006, 12:13 AM
I've been hearing about this acdsee, can you point me to a place where I can learn how it works, or at least where I can get a copy???

Thanks Connie, for bringing this up, I've been meaning to ask about it for awhile. :D

Here is the website:

Even the basic program is out of my price range, but it looks cool.

I use PSE Organizer and Picasa..... but I wish there was something easier

Sure Ronee - my suggestion is to do 2 things:
1) download the trial (faery provided the link - thank you dear!)
2) ponder this thread at DST
http://www.digishoptalk.com/boards/showthread.php?t=14546&highlight=acdSee

(it got huge - but I think that underlines the value of the software.... in the beginning I outlined how I use it & people added - and ShellyRae wrote 2 tutorials for it at SBB - I'll linky you:

tutorials at SBB
http://scrapbook-bytes.com/cgi-script/tutorials/publish/cat_index_59.shtml

3) and someone found a coupon for $8 off thru Oct. 31, add the $5 off in the early part of the trial - and you can buy for $28 (a far cry from the $42 I spent- ugh) - thread is at DST too:

http://www.digishoptalk.com/boards/showthread.php?t=15705&highlight=acdSee

After the long thread at DST - people are PM'ing me now with questions - which is great (I don't mind searching the help area - but I'm becoming one with it).... and starting to sound like a walking ad... but you may as well take advantage of it. I can be useful other than socially - lol :P

ronee
10-22-2006, 04:00 PM
Thanks Connie and Chris! I will check that stuff out later this evening.

That's so funny Vicki, because I have one solid white, textured paper that I made for a layout to match a pp that I really liked, and it's driving me crazy. I am always looking to put stuff in a place. If it doesn't have a place I toss it (yes even digital kits that I don't use, and know I won't again, *gasp*) if I can't toss it it has to find a place. I think I'd be better off if I were just unorganized!

So I've been going nuts trying to come up with a kit to go with this white textured paper, lol. I can't imagine having a bunch of stuff that just doesn't fit anywhere.
VickiStegall
10-22-2006, 06:10 PM

mmmm ok Vicki! I'll come on down. As long as you promise to not reheat leftovers.....ok?

I spent yesterday with my Sis - who really is the org. software guru... Now she has me thinking about an EHD.

I can go about a week without unzipping - but then I get nervous.... (it's my work influencing me.... because today I was pondering my laundry room - and I SO am not organized in there! ugh). So don't think it covers all aspects of my life -- my problem is - I still can't let go of some things.
VickiStegall
10-22-2006, 09:46 PM
WOOHOO! Come on down! I promise, I will just take you out to all the best restaurants with no reheating!!! LOL I am never gonna live that down

This looks really great! I am so excited about it, thank you for sharing Connie! I keep everything by designer name right now, and while I liked the idea of being able to find things by item type and color, I wasn't willing to let go of being able to find them by designer. With this I could do both.

I think I'll download the free trial in the next few days, and I'll let you know how it goes!!!

I keep things by designer name too by using the naming convention for the file name of:
designer name - element name - color ... (the last part is provided - I just make sure the designer name is first

I use keywords for color - and others use categories.. but if you browse that thread you'll see the pro's & con's. Feel free to ask if you have questions.

Okay, I am totally downloading this tomorrow! I've had a bunch of scrapping deadlines to meet today, some of them with required color pallettes, and I've been sitting thinking things like, "I wonder if I have a green ribbon?" then I think, if I got ACDSee like Connie told me to, I'd be able to find it.

And now, I'm trying to finish one of the last ones and having to browse through my digi files on my laptop, but the files are stored on the other computer, so that means everything takes a flippin century! But if I was just looking at previews, and then inserting discs, there'd be no problem.

And then- the big kicker- if everything is stored on disc, then I can take it with me and my laptop to go crop anywhere!! Right now everything is on the main computer because it's better than this one, so I can't scrap anywhere but at home.

Well, you've convinced me Ronee. 8) (just kidding you - couldn't resist commenting) My sister & I talked & I'm going to step up the system one level. I'm going to move my files to an EHD (which I need to buy yet)... but, also burn back ups. I only go to crops twice a year.

You do realize that you're next problem will be disc storage... I found a cool CD box made by Fellowes that has 2 drawers & stores 120 discs in little hanging file sleeves (2 per). We own... ahem 4 or 5 of them. They're like $25 at J&R music & stack nicely - let me know if you want a pic. (Why do we have so many? ahem cough cough - movies on dvd's)

I've got digital scraproom and I love it! http://www.digitalscraproom.com It is still in the early stages of development, so it's not perfect yet, but they really do listen to what customers want, and if you buy it now, $25, you get free upgrades for life.

How it works: You drag your kitsinto the software, keyword them how you want (I just do designer, site, kit name) Then you can copy thumbnails into different folders depending on the item. For example, I've got folders for my ribbons, earth toned papers, stitching...

To use things you just drag the item out of the software into Photoshop or whatever you're using, and it keeps track of it for you! It rocks being able to just create and not having to worry about where you're getting the stuff.

Let's hear what you're doing? There are new products here at oscraps that are awesome! I have to get Genevieve's altered postage stamps.

My scrapping has to wait a bit. Today my sister & I are taking a brand new spanking computer to my parents to my parents where a wireless ISP has been installed - so they should be rockin' on the net. Then, after some lessons - I hope they'll use it!

We had ordered a book for them 'Easy Windows XP for senior citizens' & it arrived yesterday. I jokingly told mom to have it read by today - and she said - but, I have to vacuum! too cute. Oh mannn - I hope they use the thing! Mom has a digital camera - but didn't really have a purpose, so never got going with it. I hope this helps.

Then tomorrow I will be scrapping away.

My Mum and Dad were senior ctitizens and they both got on the internet before I did! I hope your parents will enjoy it as much as mine did :)

Meanwhile I have a very good book to read: Cross by James Patterson :D

I had a good day with my sister. We had lots of quality time in the car as well as a few laughs. And all of us kids were together with my parents - it was nice. My mom & dad now have the internet.... look out world!

Tomorrow I'm sewing a cape for my dd's boyfriend (For Halloween I hope!) & scrapping, scrapping, scrapping!!

*waving* at Jane!! Welcome to the big 'O'. (I was missing you guys! ) They have a nice place here.

My parents did well with their mouse skills today. I hope they play lots of solitaire before the next lesson.

Ah - sounds like you've been busy Jane. I'm so glad that you registered & posted on DST (I was able to find you this time :) ).

Until tomorrow.......

I'm sure I'll stay around for a while if no-one gets fed up with me :)

It's gone 11am here in the UK, I've been up only half an hour and I feel like I've got a hangover! I can't possibly have one though, because I've not had any alcohol, so it must just be I'm not used to being out late (gone midnight) partying with family!

This afternoon we're off to MIL's to watch The DaVinci Code DVD and have lasagne for tea :D

Oh, I finished my book yesterday: it was OK, but a bit of a let down at the end :(

You girls sound like a blast.
What website did you all come from?

I am also in the "Teach Computer to the Parents" club. My dad had his own computer for a while, and thoroughly scared my mom to death that she would "do something" to it. I finally talked her into getting her own (ahhhh blessed freedom!) and have beenteaching her how to get around the net. She is having a blast emailing my kids.
(Don't tell her I said this, b/c she is improving, but my DS hd better mosue skills when he was 2 yo......) :p

As for weekend scrapping, I finsihed up one LO and then did another for Ronee's In Dreams kit.

How was DaVinci Code? Book was awesome, so I am not sure how well I'l like the movie.
Is Cross a new J Patterson? Haven't seen it yet at my library.
But I am working on #2 of the new Nora Roberts Trilogy.

We met over at Jen Wilson's Designs - I can't remember how I found that place originally, and everyone was really friendly. I started doing a "Daily Moos" thread, just a general how are you today sort of thing and it seems like I've been missed since Jen's site has been down. Connie invited me here once she tracked me down after I registered at DigiShopTalk, and there's our history in a nutshell :)

We haven't seen the film yet - we'll be going over to MIL's in a couple of hours: I'll let you know how it was :)

Yes, Cross is the new James Patterson. Get it from the library, don't buy it because it's not quite the suspenseeful story you expect: I was quite disappointed :( It's a good book, a quick read, but it seemed really shallow to me.

My lips are sealed about mouse skills  I get so impatient with my parents when I'm watching them because they seem so slow!

Of course you can stay Jane! (and they haven't kicked me out yet 8) so I think you're safe! My sense of humor & chattability skills are right in there with yours.)

Jane - have you seen the DaVinci Code movie before? I liked it, but dh didn't - but he hadn't read the book - I think that's important to understand what's happening.

Sorry about your book dear - but the library has more, I bet! I'm not a Patterson fan - but he's prolific & has quite the following. I brought home a new fiction called Mary - that's narrated from Abe Lincoln's wife's point of view - and the setting is an asylum later in her life. Not sure if I'll get thru it - we'll see - it was highly reviewed & I asked for the purchase of it. (a perk of being a librarian - I can 'recommend' purchases -- and then I review them of course! lol Did you know that you can do the same? we buy books for our customers all the time upon request!)

About the parental mouse skills - my mom had trouble with the dbl click, but my dad has big fingers & was right clicking accidently everywhere. He was cute - he'd position the mouse with the right hand & then click the left side with his left hand. And he said 'I don't do typing... why can't I just call you (rather than do email...)'. But he liked google maps! and we looked at guns... so I hope they use it. They have a connection speed I would love to have.

Today - I need to scrap some pages for my PDW CT - Lyndsay Riches - and I'm going to use heritage photos (I LOVE scrapping heritage photos! probably of DH's side). I CLOSED my DST window (then had to reopen to find the links for Ronee) - but that site is addictive & sucks me in! ok, ok, I talk too much! lolol When I break from scrapping, I'm going to make lunch for the family (dd's boyfriend comes over on Sunday's - and I love that boy). And he asked me to sew a cape for him for Halloween, so we'll do that. (He's good at humoring me by helping - it makes my dd uptight, but she survives & says MOM!).

So I'm off to scrap! hurrah!!

Hi faerywings,
I was at scrapmommies & then when that shut down I was homeless... sigh...I started posting at DST, but it moves so fast. When Jen's site was hopping - I stopped by & got sucked in, joined Jane's daily Moo's & enjoyed the fellowship. Jane has a great sense of humor (just wait!). I had found oscraps before Vicki redid the site. I watched for this new one to come up & have been posting here too. (I love Vicki's designs - she rawks!). Jen's site has went down twice & I missed my friends - so I invited them here. Last night I posted a thread at DST - so maybe more will come - who knows? Edhish is a very talented scrapper that lives in Sweden.

About me - I manage 7 libraries & 22 people during the week - that's the book connection. And I lead the technology area in my library system - so we have wireless access & I'm getting card readers installed for easy data transfer. Our customers can burn CD's & DVD's. So people can dl large files on our rockin' T1 & burn to DVD if they wanted. We are bringing in downloadable audio books... It's a great job! what can I say?

You'll love the movie for the DaVinci code. I see you use your public library too!! Hurray!! I have met Nora Roberts in person at a library convention - as she was autographing books (it was so exciting!) -- and then I heard her speak. I have also heard JA Jance speak in person.

I am going to check out your LO's & leave some love, then get busy on my own! (Doesn't Ronee do great work? There are some very talented designers here!!)

WOWZERS!!! I leave town for a few days and this place gets hoppin'! Welcome Jane and Edhish! I'm thrilled you are here!!!!

Let's see, didn't scrap a darn thing this weekend - went to VEGAS instead! so I'm recovering and working a bit on a collaborative project with 3 of the other PDW designers this afternoon.

Let's see if i can respond in a nutshell..

-would love to see some daily moooos

-DaVinci Code - loved both the book and the movie

-my taste in books runs a bit odd... I love fantasy - supernatural, dragons, knights, etc. (my favorite latest find is the Kushiel series which is decidedly NOT a book for the weak of heart...)

-Maggie, I'm tired just lookin' at your list

-Connie you are the BEST!

-Ronee RAWKS the house!!!

-If I missed anything, consider the fact I just got back from vegas lol

Awww, you guys are too sweet!

Let's see... I loved the DaVinci Code book, and liked the movie, but I thought some parts could have been done better. (But, Hubby and I work on Screenplays and make short films in our spare time (which is almost never, lol) and I am very picky about movies.)

Did I just put parenthesis inside parenthesis??? I think I did lol.

I'm usually a homebody, and I like it that way, but the last two weeks we've had a lot of family commitments to take care of. We're finally home for the day and luckily have the rest of the afternoon, so I'm going to go take a nap! :D

In between all of the family commitments, I've been working a lot on a couple of elements that are totally new for me, and waiting for Vicki to get back from Vegas so she can give me some CC, lol.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday!

I am so incredibly jealous of your libraries. Yes, I did say that. How many people can honeslty say they are jealous of a library? :D
Our town library is so tiny (but the librarians are absolute dolls which makes up for it). They had plans to renovate and put a new one within walking distance of my house, but it keeps getting voted down. In NJ property taxes are insanely high and anytime anyone mentions "raise taxes" it gets voted down.
I would love to see a new "hi tech" library in town. Somewhere it might even be "cool" for the teens to hang out at since we have nowhere for them to go as it is, unless you count skateboarding in the shop rite parking lor. :(

And I can't beleive you met Nora! Is she nice as she seems? I am such a huge fan of hers, been reading her stuff for moe years than I care to admit. She is also one of the few "romance" authors that really keeps the suspense going.

my gods, can you believe I just rambled this much about libraries? *giggle*
Connie
10-23-2006, 07:18 AM
We can talk about libraries anytime you want.

Nora was very nice - yes! She also writes as JD Robb - as I'm sure you're aware. I'm trying to remember the whole story that she told us. It was about a truckdriver... and the bathroom... and her book moving him to tears.

It made the audience laugh though.
