Nina, they are wonderful!
I haven't ever used templates like that before.
I prefer to drive myself insane by doing it all "by hand."
grrrrr......

I must say I am intrigued....but since I have no clue as how to use them, I probably wouldn't be of any use to you. :)

Lots of luck!!

Give them a try. Chris what software are you using? I can find instr's for you in both psp & ps

I use psp. Speaking of that we should all put what program we're scrapping with in our siggy - so we can help each other out.

In psp - you open the .psd file (& layers will automatically open). (I had problems with this in psp 7 & 512 meg RAM, but now with psp11 & 2 gig ram, I'm ok)

Click on a layer that you want,
then use the magic wand to make marching ants on it
Invert selection
Bring in a paper to PSP, Ctrl C on it (copy)
on layout - Ctrl L on it (that places the paper just above the selected layer)
Hit delete key to cut the paper

Go to next layer & continue on... until done. Once you get the hang of it - it goes along... The three here are all templates - The Conservatory, One Love, Big Sister (http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=33922&cat=500&ppuser=772)<<Link

Give it a try ladies! It's fun

Ladies - My sister has more experience with psp & found an easier way to do templates than I used. I was so brain dead last night - that I asked her to email them. I'll get them up down in the tutorials, tips section later.

Hi Connie:
you can use templates in PSP? I didn't know that?
I tried Patti and Michelle I couldn't get them to work they kept saying this feature is not supported and they shut down my psp since then I never tried them again.

Maggie,
Try this one of Nina's (I put a link up top).
And how many meg of RAM do you have? They didn't work very well on my desktop with 512 meg in psp 7.

Now in psp 11 with 2 Gig of RAM (4 times the amt) - they work just fine.

One other important point - they need to be a .psd file. Tiff's work in PS, but not in psp.
Let me know if you need help,
Connie

Here is my first try at a template! I used Nina's Ready to Scrap freebie.

Christmas Morning (http://www.oscraps.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1525)
This gorgeous LO only took me about 10 minutes...love that!!

Here's my question tho'. If you get a template, do you only use it once? I don't usually copy my own designs over and over. So how can I justify spending money on a template that I'm only going to use once? I know the prices are really reasonable, but one of the things I really love about digi-scrapping is the reusability of all of my elements and paper and all!!

What do you designers think?

I really like templates. They've become a bit addictive for me though - as I am less and less designing my own layouts :(

But on the bright side - I get layouts done more quickly and I don't need to think as much about placement. :)

I am not a designer, but I play one on tv.....
My thoughts on this (and now that I have found some templates, I am llovin' them-- thanks nina!)... I think that I would ise them over. Since all of the layers are separate, you have the ability to move, resize, hide, add more stuff.
Like in the LO I did using nina's freebie, I could link the horizontal stripes and rotate them into a vertical edge.
Or I could hide the swirl on the photo corner, and add a flower, or doodles.

Just some thoughts-- anyone else?

Not a designer either & there are LONGGGGGGGG threads & discussion on this topic at DST - but the templates can also be rotated any direction & used.

You can use as much or as little of it as you want. Once you get the hang of them - they maybe could be used as a starting point - then - personalize your layout - so it reflects you.

(man that sounds good for so early in the morning!) Anyway - I'm glad that you ladies are trying them! I just started using them about 3 weeks ago. At first I didn't understand how to do it in psp. because all the instr's were in pscs2.
