Hi, Erin! No, another one *not* from Utah, but yeah, it is the Scrap Capital, isn't it? I see lotsa folks from those parts. Beautiful place, too. Consider yourself fortunate to live in such a pretty part of the world! :)

Well, DH is from Illinois so that's why we moved here after he got out of the Air Force. It's been almost 10 years now and I'm itching to move.

I would love to move back there but the cost of living is so expensive. :( It would be nice to move closer to the West Coast, though.

Can you say hijaked!!!!! LOL
I think it's because of the LDS (Mormon) culture here. Part of the teachings in the LDS church are to write in journals, document your life, and do geneology (find your ansestors). Scrapbook stores started popping up all over here in the mid 90's, probably for those reasons. I believe mainstream scrapbooking actually started here, but please correct me if I'm wrong! I know there are a couple of magazine's with their homes in too. I'm within a few minutes driving distance from 5 different stores that stock scrapping supplies.

Yup! Another fellow Utahn here. I am originally from Las Vegas, but live here now. I recently moved from Provo to Mapleton. I still hate the winters after almost 20 years.

Keylime pie is my fav! Does anyone know a good recipe for one?
VickiStegall

Yes! You simply go to any House of Blues restaurant and order the keylime pie for desert! Scrumptious and so easy! LOL. But seriously, I'm not so great a cook - too distracted so I tend to just get awesome treats like this if I go out to dinner :)

That's exciting that you're here in Provo. Are you already a member of the utah digiscrapper's yahoo group? If not I'll get you the info, I think we're doing a lunch in January.

I'm not from Utah but I am LDS! Which is kinda' funny, cause lots of LDS people scrapbook... for the reasons you said, a way to journal, etc. :) I'm actually making a kit for a class that we are having at one of the ladies' homes teaching about digital scrapbooking! :)

My hubby is a Utah native!! His ancestors crossed the plains and settled there with Brigham Young! LOL He's from Spanish Fork. BTW, we are LDS. =)) He and I were actually married in Manti.
My sister lives in Orem with her family and I go there a lot since it's only three hours from me.
I think Utah is the scrapping capitol because it's the birthplace of Creating Keepsakes magazine. Lisa Bearnson lives near my SIL. I think that's probably why people think it's the scrapping capitol. LOL

I'm new and a Utah girl. It's the scrapping capitol of the paper world, not so much digi. Many major manufacturers (Holy Alliteration, Batman!) are from around here.

Yeah I totally missed this thread too!! I lived in Provo for a while I went to UVSC and then transfered to a college in Ohio and the moved back to Sandy!! I was paper scrapping addicted until my sister introduced me to digital!! I go "home" to utah every Christmas. My parents live in Cottenwood Heights. We are LDS. It seems to run in our family :D .
iamafishtank-hey I almost moved to Tooele!! I loved it there. Not too much city and it was quiet!! But I couldn't get my DH to move out of Louisiana!!

But I went to BYU. :) And we are going to visit friends and family in Utah the week of labor day. I made my first paper scrapbook pages while I still lived in Utah. Since then I have switched to digital and I love it!
We are living in So cal now for my husband's work.
