Moo-rning! Sorry I'm a bit late this morning, I had one of those days already!

Chris, I loved that hair!! You should be proud, Vive La Difference!! and all that :D

Ronee, what a great photo your son took and I love the simple LO you've done with it :D I'll leave some love later when I log in to the gallery.

This morning I had a hospital appointment for an echocardiogram - ultrasound of the heart I have found out! I turned down ambulance transport because I always think that's for people who really can't get there under their own steam. So I called for an accessible taxi, and was told I couldn't have one until 10.30am (the time I had to be at hospital) because they're all out doing contract work for the local council, ferrying disabled people around. So I had to hope the rain held off and took the trip in my powered chair all the way there and back. Next time, I'll take the ambulance when it's offered to me! It's a ridiculous state of affairs about the taxi, but there's nothing we can do. The council only license so many accessible ones, the drivers need to make enough money to run them as they are not cheap, so doing council work is worth every penny to them.

So I'm back, and sat with a nice, hot cup of tea after having walked **ahem** over two miles, maybe more. Time to do some work I suppose

Good morning Jane!! :) Sounds like you should have stayed in bed this morning ;) I'm glad that you managed to get to your appointment on time and that you are no worse for wear. Enjoy your cup of tea ... and heck have a second and third for your troubles today!! :)

I am feeling less than desirable this morning .... I think I'm getting a bit of a head cold or flu or something. I didn't sleep worth a dang last night ... tossed and turned got up went back to bed etc etc etc etc!! Ahhhhhhh!!!

So I'm almost through my first cup of coffee ... still need to shower ... the girls are almost ready for school ... Lacey is getting the 2 little ones up ... and yeah it's not even 8 o'clock yet.

The 2 boys that I look after in the morning are now here ... which means it's time for me to run and get ready to face the day. I'm going for breakfast with Olivia and Mya and then to a girlfriends house for coffee!! :)

I will be back later to harass and torment!!

Ciao Bella Dellas!!

Hola Lola,
I woke up at 4:30 am... ya, I know - stupid huh?

Jane wow! give you a new battery & you're off galavanting! Sorry to hear that the taxis don't provide the service you need - how frustrating!

Last night I looked at new cameras. I love my 6 yr old Olympus 2.1 megapixel & it still takes great photos, but I'm thinking I'd really love the clarity of a dslr. (I had said I didn't want one - but when I was holding up the $400 digital Canon - he noticed my tremor - it's due to my meds... and yes sometimes my photos get blurry). So he recommended a dslr so I have better support of the camera when using the view finder. Well then I decided I liked the 'feel' of the Nikon D80 better than the Canon Rebel, then he said the entry level lenses aren't acceptable... so the Nikon D80 with a Nikkor 18-135 mm lens is as much as my laptop was! So ladies - what's your opinion? Would the 18-135 mm lens be better than the 18-55 mm lens? more versatile? or more clunky? I do lots of landscape, flowers, pets, and I WANT the macro for my flowers! I don't do portraits or the special effects & doubt I'll be buying many more lenses. Oh two last things I want - I LOVE the continuous shooting and something that will fit in the cardreader of my laptop (I know - call me lazy!) - so memory card options are: (Secure Digital, MultiMedia, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, xD Picture Card)

Anyway - it's a big decision & I am open to suggestions because I don't have time to research it like I usually would.

Today - I have a half day training/meeting with with my small branches. Then this afternoon - continue getting ahead!

Hope you're feeling better soon Krista, and I hope this morning finds everyone else chipper! (I'm a morning person if you haven't noticed :) )

Wow, Jane! I hope you hospital visit went well. Sorry you couldn't get a cab! That stinks! Did the rain hold off for you?

Krista - Hope you're feeling better soon! We are all getting over a nasty head cold here--my DD Mia is the last one to get it, and unfortunately babies seem to hang on to colds a little longer than adults. I'm over the cold myself, but just taking care of her is draining. LOL

Connie, I'm totally saving up my money for a Canon 30D. I have a 35mm Canon slr, so my lenses will work with the 30D (thus, I am committed to Canon). But Nikons are awesome, too. I think SLRs are worth it. Yes, they are lunky, and it's not practical to take them along EVERYWHERE, but the clarity of the pictures, and all the options you have with an SLR that you don't have with a p&s are worth it. I love shooting with my film SLR (it just drives me nuts that I have to WAIT to get the film developed, and that film developing costs money...), so I can't wait to get my dSLR, although it will be a WHILE before I can afford one.

So, my DH is coming home today! Whoo-hoo! I told him he better be prepared to spend LOTS and LOTS of time playing with Mia, because I need a break! I mean, I love my little girl to pieces, but 5 days of her being sick and fussy.... I need some ME time! ;)

Ronee helped me figure out some stuff in ACDSee last night, and I am beginning to see the merits. ;) But Connie, I'm adding you to my Hello (I'm sweetgenevieve, btw, if anyone wants to add me), and if I have any problems, I'm going to bug you! ;)

Well, off to feed the kiddo and scrounge for some breakfast for myself! Have a good day, ladies! :)

Hi! I'm new here, may I join? I'm on Ronee's CT, she suggested checking this thread out! :)

My morning, woke up at 6:45am with a teething baby, tried to wake DH up for work at 7am, he got mad and grumpy, we fought, he left http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b339/ofiddledeedee/angrywife.gif! My middle 2 woke up, and were crazy acting children for some reason...then the daycare kids got dropped off, more craziness ensued. Is it a full moon? Argued with my 7.5 year old all morning. I literally haveto follow him around to make sure he takes his jammies off BEFORE he gets dressed, wears underwear, puts clothes on front ways, brushes his teeth, and wears socks! FINALLY got him off to school, am getting ready to put my 2 smallest daycare boys down for naps(both 2), my 7mos old is napping, then while the my 2 middle children watch TV, I'll be trying to take a shower, with the door open, of course (lol-because apparently it is too much to ask to have my DH keep an eye on the kids in the evening so I can tyake a shower) before I have to make lunch at 11:15 and get all 5 kids into the van to take my oldest DD to preschool by 12:30...so I'm on my 4th cup of coffee, and trying to have a small break here at the computer! LOL

Oh, please don't be scared of me, I'm not ALWAYS this crazy, I promise!

Oh, I'm Rachel, BTW. I'm 27, married, I have 4 kids, 2 boys, 7.5 and 2.5, and 2 girls, 5(on Thursday :( ) and 7mos. I do daycare, watch 2 boys full time, both 2, and I watch another 8 year old before and after school. I've been paper scrapping for 7+ years, but just went digi in July, and will not be going back! I've gotten about twice as many LOs done in 5 months, doing digi, as I did in 7 years of paper! LOL

Okay off to attempt to get 2 boys down for a nap! Wish me luck!

I've got a doctors appointment this am (no biggie), need to go to the grocery store, going to take the plunge and purchase XCart - yikes, they are proud of their software!, then I have a very important phone call to make that could mean wonderful things for Oscraps - keep your fingers and toes crossed for me!!!

See y'all later!!!

Connie:
I currently shoot with Canon. I have a Rebel XT and I do not have too many issues with the camera. I am not personally 100% committed to Canon, but, I have invested in a few pieces of glass, so I will most likely stick with it. My next major purchase will be the 5D. I would like the full frame sensor and use my XT as a back up at shoots.

You really have to do your research and hold the cameras in your hands to find out what you like best. Now, a camera is not going to make you a better photographer. Practice and reading that manual will help a lot. Also, invest in a tripod if you are concerned about some of your shots being blurry. And just practice the shooting stance that will be demonstrated in your manual to help you brace the camera better and avoid some of the camera shake.

Good luck shopping.

Hi

I can't believe the mess with the taxi!

I want a DSLR too but I'll be waiting a long while. I have a p&s with good zoom that allows me to shoot in manual so it will have to do. Don't you wish you could try before you buy?

Hey Rachel, nice to see another friendly face.

Genevieve I'm jealous, I could use a bit of "me" time as well. Enjoy.

Heroes, lovin' that show, I'm still trying to watch last nights episode ( yeah Tivo! )

Hope all the sickies are feeling better.

Have a great Tuesday!

Ok...this post is to make Vicki feel better...

I have done nothing this morning except put a few dishes in the dishwasher, eat breakfast (which includes decaf coffee which I am still drinking - yea!), talk to my MIL about my hubby's company taxes (she's their bookkeeper), and go upstairs to get to my computer...whew! that was tough!! LOL...

Actually, I did get up with my dh at 6:30 and iron his pants and shirt for today. I do that everyday so I will get up. This morning it was a bit too early for me, so I went back to sleep!! Yike!!

I do have a list that will keep me pretty busy today (which is why I went back to bed this AM!!!)

Welcome, Rachael! Hope your daycare boys went down ok...

Krista, I heard that ZICAM does wonders!!!

Lu, I keep hearing this from you-"read your manual, read your manual" I promise I will study it!! I promise!! (great advice, btw)

Connie, I am in love with my Olympus EVOLT (E300). But as I said above, I need to study my manual like crazy. I bought some other books and hope to get a moment during Christmas break to really study about photography, maybe even take a couple of classes...

Here's what my pediatrician said when I suggested buying myself one of those thingies that you stick in the kid's ears to check for an ear infection (sorry I can't remember the name of that) - "It's not the bow and arrow, it's the indian behind the bow and arrow." That's where I'm at with my camera...

Gen, enjoy your ME time...

Vicki, I can't wait to hear what is coming!!!! (loving the O!!)

Jane, how cool is it that your doctor is only 2 miles away? All of my doctors are at least 30 minutes away and that's driving on the freeway most of the way! Hope all is well! Keep us posted!

HAppy TOOOOOsday, y'all!
Genevieve

ROFL! Love that, Sally!

And that's some really good advice, Lu! Not that I'm surprised...I mean, your photos are GORGEOUS!

And YAY for X-Cart and some other mysterious "good news for Oscraps"!

Also, I've officially had too much caffeine this morning and I feel like I'm bouncing off the walls. Not getting a whole lot done because I can't concentrate! LOL

Morning girlies!

Not much to say today, seems like everyone's been busy. I'm over on the west coast, so by the time I get here everyone's done so much it makes me feel behind, lol.

Welcome Rachel! Glad to see you here, and don't worry, you can be crazy if you want to! ;)

Connie, I have a Rebel XT, I like it a lot, but I don't have much experience with other cameras. My husband does both photography (a lot of the photos I scrap are actually his, shhh.. don't tell because I usually take credit, lol) and also makes short films and digital video work and he's a pretty big fan of Canon (and they have a whole lot of our money, lol) and I'm pretty sure he would stick with them.

Good luck on your phone call Vicki! Lots of positive vibes coming your way!

Lu - I keep reading my manual for some reason the technical stuff just hasn't clicked for me yet. Which is a little silly because I'm usually good with that stuff, but I'll take another look.

Sally, you think your MIL wants to be my bookkeeper? LOL, I could use one, I hate doing that stuff! I want someone to take my money and pay bills and give me an allowance for spending, lol.

Jane - go for the ambulance! I would!! Enjoy your tea, I think I'll go make some now too. :)

Have a great day everyone!

*** wanders in, plops down in a corner and sighs ***

Well girls, what an unproductive day I've had. I had my cup of tea, and then some more, followed by a sandwich for lunch, some more tea... and I sat and read a book until I finished it just now. I know, I know, you'd all luuurrrrrrve to have the time to do that

The echo today was a follow-up from August when I was rushed to hospital (only 2 miles away!! LOL) with a heart rate of around 235 beats per minute. That's a little fast for someone who's main activity is sitting in a wheelchair, and far too fast when all you've been doing is lying in bed for the previous eight hours! Turns out it was supra-ventricular tachycardia, not particularly serious unless unchecked, and it's looking like I have to go see a professor in Manchester (oh my goodness, how will I get there? That's at least 15 miles away!!! LOL ) with a high probability of having some sort of wire fed through me to blast away this extra wiring that's causing the problem. I've had 22 surgeries through my life, I'm at 13 1/2 years without any and I wanted to make it to 15... or even more. It doesn't get easier the more you have, you just know more of what horrors they can do to you!

Connie, I wish I could help with your choice of camera. DH and I bought a new one a month ago: we were intending to get a Canon DSLR because DH has an old film version of one and liked it. But our plans were scuppered because the DSLR doesn't use the LCD screen for framing photographs: you use the viewfinder as with a "normal" camera. As I can't hold a camera up to my face, I rest it on my knee and frame looking through the display we had to compromise and get the Sony Cybershot. Having said that, we are amazed by its clarity and quality - although I'm a little leary of using it because it was so expensive and I don't want to drop it! Also, all DH's filters fit it too so we have had some extra things to play with.

Genevieve, our camera buff friend did not recommend using the same lenses for a digital as used on a "normal" film camera. DH had lenses which is why we thought of the Canon first too, but our friend said that the lenses don't quite work the way you might expect. I didn't take much notice at the time, something about shots being shorter/longer than you would expect, so I'll ask DH if he remembers exactly what he said. I just remember thinking perhaps it was a good thing we didn't get the Canon after all. Have a great reunion with your DH :)

Welcome Rachel :) I'm just going to say, "I don't know how you do it!!" and leave it at that! I lead a quiet life methinks

Good luck with the phone all Vicki - and are you changing from Zen to X???

Sally, my kind of girl!!! :D Let's talk about all we have NOT done today!

There's a story from yesterday I forgot to tell you about, and it's part of the reason I didn't sleep well (apart from the pain) because I ended up having weird dreams...

***ADULT MATERIAL***

OK these accessible taxis, when you can get one, are quite high off the ground and afford a clear view into other vehicles around you. I'm a bit of a people watcher, so when we're stood waiting a traffic lights I look around into the cars ...

So I'm gazing thoughtlessly into the car at the side of us. Two people, both male I think, and the driver seems to have a hand disability, his hand was turned inwards at the wrist. I'm dead nosey when it comes to disabilities  So I'm looking around to see if the car's got any adaptations, like a steering-wheel ball for easy turning, when out of the corner of my eye I notice that his hand isn't disabled really, he's just holding it oddly in his lap and moving his thumb about a lot....

Then the lights change, and as we start to move off and he moves his hand to the steering wheel I see... and surely you ladies are with me now????

Fortunately I'm so high up he can't see my face, because I'm sure I was doing a pretty good impression of a goldfish for a quite a while there!

Yes, I did know that. I have a friend who's a photographer and made the swtich from film to digital. Some of his lenses he was able to use and others not so much. He said that the more expensive one that I have would work for digital, but that I'd want a different wide-angle lense. But even if I had to buy all new lenses, I think I'd still stick with Canon just because I'm familiar and comfortable with the set-up of their cameras.

UGH about the taxi story! LOL I can't believe it! While he was DRIVING?!?! Man!

Heeeyyyyyyy! :P

It's Parent Conference week, so it's feast or famine as far as free time goes. I teachteachteach then planplanplan or conferenceconferenceconference. Lots of free time if I'm not running my mouth. :-D

So, I'm stopping in to say "what, what!?"

Connie - I got the Olympus E500 from costco.com. It came with 2 lenses for less than the XT, so I had to grab it. The consumer reviews were very positive, and I'm MORE than happy with it. Between my new camera and photoshop, I can't take a bad picture. :-D I'm taking the kids out to do our Christmas shoot this weekend, and I'm actually excited about it. I hope they're cooperative. My daughter's boyfriend's family did theirs last weekend, and snuck Keegan and Brett into a few shots. I did a layout with one of their cute ones last night that I'm really proud of: http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=41877&cat=699

Other than that.. nothing much going on. Keegan's tennis team lost on Saturday, so no more playoffs. :-( I also have to start thinking about registering for my MA classes (I took this semester off to be a mom) which start in January. Bah. I'd rather digiscrap. Is there an MA in DigiScrapping?

Hi there Chele :) I love that LO, it really captures the moment :)

Genevieve, darn... there was me trying to show off my knowledge

And yes, while he was driving.. the mind boggles. I was really laughing at my own reaction... "Oh he must have something wrong with his hand..." Which reminds me of when we were driving across the border into Poland and I'm thinking to myself, "Oh that lady must have broken down, I wonder if we should stop and help?? Goodness, there's another lady, I wonder why she's in the middle of the road, I can't see a car...Oh well never mind, we have to keep going and we don't speak Polish.."

Our Polish friend had a good giggle at my expense. especially when I asked, "Why are the nightclubs so far out of town?" "Because they're not nightclubs, and those ladies had not broken down!!!"

Oh

It sure is lively in here today :) Loving these stories! Someday I'll skewer up the courage to tell you my story of a hotel room window across the road in London... ahahah, it's a good one ;)

Gen - loooooovin' the blinkie! one of these days i'll get my lazy fingers around to updating my blinkies.

In all actuality, I have been very lazy today too. Looks like the phone call isn't going to happen today - ah well, maybe tomorrow. And, um, I went to the dr appt and that is pretty much it.

Hi girls...I'm new here so I'm just going to jump right in :)

Started of the day with a sore nose...couldn't understand why except that my grandson, Michael, must've bumped it last night while we were playing.

Headed into work...started feel cruddy!

Made a Dr. Appt and after several rounds of test, I have a severe Sinus Infection. GREAT! Just what I need before the holiday.

So, I've been on meds for about an hour and a half and feel really woozie but it's not stopping me from being online. I know, my priorities, huh?!?!

It's been great reading everyone's post and getting to know everyone. Looking forward to future postings.

I missed posting here this morning. I don't like starting my day without my *O*
*evil grin*
I swear I did nothing but run around today-- I ended up having to drive the kids to school b/c there was a dead deer at the bus stop. My kids are like me, and we are huge animal lovers. There was no way any of us would have been able to wait there. The I hit the grocery store, then schhol visitation, next I wrap Xmas gifts for my brother (who is paying me to do this- you know you are broke when you wrap *other people's* presents for $$ lol!!!))Then I baby sit so my freind can go to the school visit, then I have a parent teacher conference. Work on MIL's accounting for 2 hours, make dinner, and now... yes now...I am sitting here siping a nice glass of wine.... The two loads of laundry that need folding can wait, right?

Jane, I have to say how much you crack me UP! You have such an expressive way of writing, I love it. Kind of funny that many Americans have this sterotype of Brits being very ...staid? Stiff upper lip and all. But every Brit I have gotten to know from online- they all have the best senses of humor and have the most outrageous way of "talking." Love it!

Connie, good luck choosing your camera, Good to know about the lens issue. They use that (sharing lenses) as a huge selling point.

Krista, how was your coffee? Hope you are feeling better soon. But don't you know that Mom's are not allowed to get sick? Ever?

Gen, hope you and dh had a happy homecoming. and that you were able to get a bit of a break.

Scarlett- Do you not just totally *love* coffee? I know I cannot live w/o it!
Chele-- gorgeous LO :) Have fun at conferences. Yeah, I know-- riiiight....

Vicki--- *fingers toes and eyes all crossed for you and oscraps!*

Have a wonderful night m'dears!
