Hmmmm, well... I don't use PS-7 but I'll give this a go as this technique works in both CS2 and elements...

There are a couple of ways to do this.

Actually cutting out the letters so you can move them around on the page:

1. Type out what you want to say/cut.
2. Paste your paper over the text layer. (you can have it underneath but then you have to turn off the visibility of the text/letter layer)
3. Hold down your Control key (Ctrl) and left click the icon of the text layer in the layer's pallette. You should get marching ants around the text/letter.
4. Copy (Ctrl+C)
5. Paste (Ctrl+V)
6. Rinse. Repeat.

Doing it like a layered template:
Wont be easy to move around the page without merging the layers.
1. Type out what you want to say/cut.
2. Paste your paper over the text layer.
3. Choose Layer --> Create Clipping Mask (or Alt + Ctrl + G) to make the paper take the shape of your letter/text.
4. Rinse. Repeat.
5. You may either Merge your clipping mask to the original text/letter shape layer to save space and apply dropshadows.

Yes, this works well for CS2....I just click on the selection tool with out the ctrl key... I rarely use my key pad. :-)

wha-wha-whaaaat? Please tell me what you mean, because I can't get the selection thing to work without the ctrl key. I'd loooove one less step!

For PSCS2 I am in my text layer, hit the magic wand, I select my text, then flip over to my paper layer and then cut...and there you have it text with paper....I may have been mistaking my selection tool with my magic wand, but it is the magic wand tool that I use for this.
