Duplicating an element several times on a paper page 1

Hello Everyone:
I know there's an easier way of doing it hoping someone can share some tips.
I've created a flower and want it to populate randomly on the paper.
I've been doing it by using the grid and duplicating the layer until I have all the elements on the paper in a random fashion pleasing to the eye. It's very time consuming that way.

What other ways of doing it outside of using the grid and duplicating a hundred times the layer????
Are there filters etc...
TIA

I make a small pattern on a 4 by 4 square and use that to tile, it doesn't always work though and you still have to play with it a lot.

I use PSP10,
but I have PSCS2 I don't know how to use it yet.
Going to take a class in Dec.

Maggie,

I use PS7 and I merge layers as I go so that I am only working with a couple layers. Say I'm doing a dot pattern. I get one row of dots or one segment of the pattern I want to work with and get it the way I want it. Then I merge all those layers to one layer. Copy layer, move to where I want it and then merge the two again. That way I am only working with two layers at a time and making the layer bigger each time I do it. Does that make sense?? It goes pretty quick once I get that initial line of dots or flowers or grouping where I want it. Then all I have to do is copy and move. Sometimes I'll use the grid to make it exact, sometimes it's just freestyle.

I could do a tut when I get back from vacation if you'd like.

Hope that helps!

I would turn the design into a brush, then adjust the spacing/ jitter/ hues in the brush properties menu (the drop down on the right if you are using PSCS). Then just swipe all over the paper!

for PSP-X, the easiest way would be to export to a Tube -- retains all the colours which a brush does not.

Thank you to everyone that answered.
A friend of mine is going to create a program for me.
Thanks
Maggie
